So many of you chose #wheelpose for your #ChooseYourResolution #backbend pose to work on, so I wanted to share some of my favorite warm ups with you! . 1.) #leighsdoorwayshoulderstretch is fantastic and honestly it’s a game changer if you can remember to do it daily. . 2.) #PuppyPose is my daily in the shower stretch and is another game changer if practiced regularly. . 3.) If you don’t have a #yogawheel, get one. It’s the single best #yogaprop I’ve ever invested in and has done more for my backbend practice and spinal health than I can express to you. Code Leighemily will get you 10 bucks off a @yogaprowheel or you can sign up to be an ambassador yourself. But all the wheels are good...doesn’t matter what brand. . 4.) #hipflexorstretch is soooooo important for your wheel pose practice. Don’t skip it!!! Spend 10 breaths on each side...at your edge. You are looking for stretch in quad and hip flexor....NOT pain in your knee. Back off if you feel pain. Use towels for comfort. . 5.) Be good to your wrists. Mine hurt, so I found if I put blocks at an angle between the floor and wall, then my wrists don’t have to bend as much. You can do this without a baseboard to prop them on, you just have to be careful...use a sticky mat. Work towards kissing the wall...pretend it’s your long lost Lover you haven’t seen in forever...😘🤣 . Do this whole routine as often as you can...and enjoy the rush as your back/chest starts opening, little by little, but never push through real pain. You can tell the difference between nudging at your edge and real pain that tells you injury is imminent. Be smart and listen to your body. . If I can do this, YOU can do this! I’ve had surgery on my right shoulder for a torn labrum, I’ve fractured two different vertebrae, and I have scoliosis. No excuses! You’ve got this! . If you don’t yet have blocks for your home practice, DM me and I’ll find you a discount for @yogahustle, the best blocks out there. . Enjoy, and let me know if you have any questions or other fabulous wheel pose preps that you want to share! ❤️❤️❤️ . #leighstutorials #leighswheelposetutorial #wheelposeprep #wheelposetutorial #yogatutorials @yoga.tutorials #re3 @re3life

I like what @leighemily said in her post today, that "backbends should be like brushing your teeth, to remove any plaque that may have built up the night before", and that a backbend a day goes a long way for your practice! . Day 5/8 of the #yogachallenge #bendlikea4leafclover 🍀 is #bowpose or #dhanurasana! . I'm open to constructive criticism, if anyone has some! Do you see how my back pretty much just bends in the low back and my bow looks more like an open box than a bow? I have a very flexible lower back but it's constantly taking too much load because I rely on it so much to achieve my backbends. I really want to increase my upper and middle back flexibility and think I may need to sign up for a contortion class to really make meaningful progress. I came across @fitandbendy 's ig and they have so many good tips for back flexibility! Over-stressing the lower back is a common problem, I'm not surprised. . Thank you to the lovely hosts (@yogielena @talcomraja @leighemily @lightfulyogini) and awesome sponsors (@re3life #re3 @mymalanecklace @toesox @infinitystrap) for truly challenging me and helping me be consistent on the mat!! . #yogisofinstagram #layogi #dancersofinstagram #danceryogi #fitgirl #yogaeverydamnday #igyogachallenge #igyoga #igyogafamily #yogalife #stopdropandyoga #ashtanga #bendyyogis #yogainspiration #backbend #upperbackflexibility #middlebackflexibility #lowerbackpain #contortion #constructivecriticism #feedback #formcheck wearing #90degreebyreflex capris and #lululemon

#LoveMeSomeSplits Day 6️⃣ #Visvamitrasana #FlyingWarrior _ K, we are not messing around tomorrow guys...this is not an easy pose. But again, do what you can and try to have fun with it! _ This pose can be done on a knee for easier balance and you can use a strap for the upper leg. Get creative with it and modify how you see fit. It requires open hips and shoulders as well as arm strength. The leg position is basically the same as today's compass pose, so you can do the same warm up and do compass pose again before you attempt this one. (And if you did this version for compass, just do another compass pose tomorrow 😘) You will also want to open up your shoulders...I highly recommend this stretch: #leighsdoorwayshoulderstretch. _ I'll make a video later with some modifications and make sure to check in with my lovely co hosts for their fun ideas and tips. @alexzanraperters @freckled_yogi @yoginiinheels @leighemily _ Generous Sponsors: @aloyoga @malabella_jewels @dharmayogawheel @youphoriayoga
