Good morning ๐Ÿ˜ Iโ€™m back from a wonderful brake. Iโ€™m doing a lot of stretching lately due to very tight hamstrings and a sore back. One of my favourite yoga poses. that can benefit your hamstrings is the #prasarita padottansana, or the wide-legged forward bend. This pose is essential for stretching the muscles on the back of your leg. It also stretches your spinal column and back muscles. Start in a standing position with your feet together. Next, inhale and step out three to four feet to your right. Put your hands on your hips. As you inhale, lengthen your spine, then exhale and fold forward from your hip joints until your head is reaching for the ground. Put your hands on the ground, parallel to your feet. If possible, put your head on the ground and bend your elbows to 90 degrees. Hold this position and take five deep breaths, and then, slowly return to the starting position. #NamasteFit2Connect Days 5 & 6: LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH MY SHOULDERS BURN RIGHT NOW. Forfeited "being all caught up" in lieu of Santa Hops and precious time with good friends but when I finally started flowing these two days together I just couldn't get it right. Messed up the order or kicked the ceiling or smacked my shin on the bannister. And the more flustered I got the worse I was doing! Four or five attempts later I took a small break and did some hair twirls and finally got a take I was happy with. But holy hell that shoulder burn is real. PS. Half moon and sugar cane pose are my nemesis. . As I practice more, the easier they become. Then I go find another layer of things to work on and make the poses challenge again. First up are just A & B. I'm showing the MODIFIED versions so be sure to check out @cherryblossomyoga for the full expressions if it's in your practice. โ„ Stance: average is wider than your hips 6"-12" inches. Longer torsos = shorter stances. Longer legs = wider stances. All about that anatomy. Almost pigeon toe your feet, toes turning inward. โ˜ƒ๏ธ 1st Pic: A version Exhale fold forward from the hips leading with your chest. Place your hands shoulder width apart on the ground with your fingers in line with the toes (like you're in tripod headstand position).Keep the spine long and try to bring the crown of the head onto the floor and eventually in between your legs (or work on elongating your spine and try to bring the crown as close to the ground as possible) so use PROPS to help: blocks, bolsters, pillows, blanket, books. The elbows should be pointing back โ˜ƒ๏ธ 2nd Pic: B version The hands are placed on the hips and elbows will move as close as possible towards each other as you exhale and hinge at the hips trying to bring the crown of the head to meet the ground.
